
Starting in August, we will offer classes to kids 5 and under and training for their parents. We are excited to begin this process and grow it in the near future.

El Centro de Folklor es una academia de bails folkloricos Mexicanos lacalizado en Selma, CA
Our Mission is to cultivate a love for Mexican folklor and for the folklor of our community through traditional dances. We also encourage our own stories to be told through dance.
Our Parent and Me Class is for kids 5 and under and their parents. It includes crafts, bilingual literacy, music, dance and parent training.
The class is held on
Mondays from 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
and is under the instruction of
Criselda Padron - Benavides (B.A. Child Development) and Assited by Veronica Cruz
The Fee is $45 a month
*Free tuition for children from Fresno County thanks to a grant from Fresno County First Five.
The Primary Class is for kids in 1st - 4th Grade with some experience in folklórico dance. The class meets
Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and is under the instruction of
Lisette Salgado, Helen Castillo, and Rory Whited
The fee is $45 a month.
This Class is designed for kids who have no or little folklórico dance experience. They will learn some of the basic footwork and rhythms. The class is under the instruction of
Hannah Peña and Assited by Alex Garcia and meets every Tuesday at 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.

The Juvenil Class is for students 4th-5th Grade. The Class will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The Class is under the instruction of Melina Jimentez and Carmen Zárate.

This Class is designed for kids in 6th-8th Grade. The class meets every
Monday at 6:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. and is under the instruction of Ramon Martinez and Oscar Hernandez

The Teen Class is for students in
8th - 12th grade.
The class meets every
Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
It is under the instruction of Maribel Dominguez
The Fee is $45 a month
The Comeback Class is for Adult Advanced Dancers 18+. It meets on
Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
They are under the direction of Ramon Martinez and assisted by Oscar Hernandez and Maribel Dominguez
The Fee is $20 a month
The Beginning and Intermediate Adult Class meets on
Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
They are under the Instruction of Oscar Hernández
The fee is $25 a month
Lisette will be the administrator for the First Five Grant. She has a Bachelor's in Social Work from Fresno Pacific University and is currently working on her Master's Degree.
Ramon works as a tutor and is majoring in Nursing with a minor in Spanish. Ramon teaches the Middle School Class and The Comeback Class. A loyal and respectful man. We are lucky to have him as part of our folklorico team.
Instructor of the Teen Class. Maribel has many years of experience as a dancer and now she is taking her knowledge of dance and teaching it to the next generation of folkloristas. Maribel is currently working on her bachelor's of art degree at Fresno Pacific University.
Melina has been dancing at Centro de Folklor since she was in the fifth grade. She is currently a Freshman at Fresno City College and is the lead instructor for our Juvenil Class she also assists at her Alma Mater, Clovis High School and their Folklorico Group El Alma de Clovis High School.
Hannah has been dancing at Centro de Folklor for five years. She is the co-instrutor of the Folk 101. Hannah is a Senior at Clovis West High School and is a dancer in our Comeback Class. She has a strong work ethic and is both a team player and a leader. We are so lucky to have her be part of our team.
Rory is one of our oringal dancers who started when she was in the sixth grade. Over the years she has developed as a dancer, but this year she decided to be part of the teaching team. She is currently attending Reedley College and is the co-instructor for our Primary Class.
Mia has been dancing at Centro de Folklor since she was in the sixth grade. She is a Freshman at Reedley College and dances with our Comeback Class at Centro de Folklor. We are lucky to have Mia be part of our team and the girls in the Primary Class learn a lot from her experience.
Helen is one of the newest members of our folklorico family. Helen is the co-instructor of he Primary Class and dances with the Comeback Class. We are fortunate to have such a prolific folklorista in our midst. Helen attends Reedley College.
Veronica "Vero" dances with both the Comeback Class and our Beg/Inter Class. She assists in the Pre K/K Class. She is always willing to help wherever needed. Vero excels in early childhood development and our little folkloristas are drawn to her gentle spirit and loving kindness. We are so lucky to have Vero as part of our team.
Carmen Zárate has been with us since our second year. She is an outstanding dancer and she is developing her teaching skills every day. She co-teaches the Folk 101 Class and helps and teaches at Jackson School in Selma,
Jenna is one of our newest dancers to show interest in teaching. She is currently assisting in the Juvenil Class and dances with the Teen Class. She is a Senior at Dinuba High School.
Eric Anthony is new to folklorico but challenges himself to better every day. He is dancing in the teen class, but also is a Junior Assistant in the Pre K/K Class, the Folk 101 Class and the Juvenil Class. Eric is in the seventh grade.
Mia is one of our Junior Assistants. She is only in the seventh grade but already has an interest in being an instructor. She does a fantastic job preparing for the Parent and Me Class. She also dances with the middle school Class
Alex has also been dancing with us since the beginning. She assists in the Folk 101 Class and dances in the Teen Class. She is a student at Clark Middle School in Clovis and enjoys playing sports.

Tuition varies by class, check above for the tuition. We also offer family discounts.
Girls/Ladies - come dressed in black; shorts, warm ups, body suit, tank, t-shirt etc. Absolutely no sandles, crocks or flip flops. You must bring foloklorico shoes (black) and a double circle pratice skirt (any color). Hair must be in a bun or opulled back in a poy tail.
Boys/Men: Work out clothes in black; warm-ups, shorts, t-shirts, tanks. Black folklorico boots and a handkerchief.
The class schedule is listed above. Never assume class is cancelled, there will always be announcements if class is not meeting or if it is being rescheduled.
